KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 6 — The boardroom changes at SapuraKencana Petroleum Bhd involving Datuk Mokhzani Mahathir and Yeow Kheng Chew are part of the company’s strategy towards the next phase of development, it said in a statement here today.
The changes saw Mokhzani and Yeow relinquishing their management roles in the company but continuing to support the company as non-executive non-independent directors.
In their new capacities, Mokhzani and Yeow would continue to actively support and advise Tan Sri Shahril Shamsuddin and the board on the continued growth of the company, it said.
Shahril would remain as President and Group Chief Executive Officer and lead the company through its next phase of development.
“This development is consistent with the strategy set by the leaders pre-merger and is not in any way a response to any conflict of interest queries raised in the past,” Board Chairman Datuk Hamzah Bakar said.
Shahril and Mokhzani would come together to jointly refine the strategy set pre-merger and spearhead the integration of the newly merged SapuraKencana Petroleum Bhd.
SapuraKencana Petroleum Bhd, an integrated oil and gas services and solutions provider operating in 20 countries, is mainly involved in providing end-to-end solutions and services to the upstream petroleum industry. — Bernama
