KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 4 ― Shares on Bursa Malaysia performed stronger at mid-morning today lifted by gains in selected heavyweight stocks.As at 11 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM LCI) increased 3.21 points to 1,827.5.
Tenaga Nasional continued to contribute most of the gains, with its shares rising 26 sen or 2.42 per cent to RM10.98.However, a dealer said losers led gainers 281 to 207 on profit taking, with 280 counters unchanged, 798 untraded and 27 others suspended.
Turnover was at 364.41 million shares, valued at RM326.25 million. The Finance Index increased 19.9 points to 16,790.01 while the Plantation Index fell 12.11 points to 8,901.01 and the Industrial Index was 15.66 points lower at 3,130.42.
The FBM Emas Index rose 13.3 points to 12,643.06 and the FBMT100 Index advanced 13.38 points to 12,379.22, but the FBM 70 gave up 19.3 points to 14,173.48 and the FBM Ace slipped 1.1 points to 5,552.57.
Among actives, Sumatec rose 1.5 sen to 29.5 sen and DSC Solutions gained half a sen to 14 sen. As for the heavyweights, Maybank garnered six sen to RM9.89 and CIMB improved four sen to RM7.66.― Bernama
