KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 27 — Share prices on ursaursa Malaysia ended in positive territory today, lifted by gains in selected blue chips. The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) improved 0.33 of a point to 1,798.46 after hovering between 1,792.21 and 1,799.82.
Among blue chips, Dutch Lady jumped RM2 or 4.25 per cent to RM49 with 68,500 shares traded, while Genting soared 24 sen or 2.38 per cent to RM10.30 with 2.88 million shares transacted.
A dealer said profit-takers and bargain-hunters were seen battling throughout the day to have the upper hand.
“There was also no clear theme running through the equities markets in the region, except perhaps for a reluctance to get involved, ahead of the US Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday and next week’s payrolls report from the country,” he added.
On the scoreboard, the Finance Index fell 21.66 points to 16,574.99 while the Industrial Index rose 5.79 points to 3,120.94 and the Plantation Index was 5.1 points better at 8,791.47. The FBM Emas Index eased 0.26 of a point to 12,501.61 and the FBM Ace shed 15.51 points to 5,650.27. The FBM 70 rose 1.53 points to 14,174.46 and the FBMT100 Index 2.05 points to 12,225.44.
Main market debutant Titijaya, which remained the most active counter today, rose 17 sen or 11.33 per cent to RM1.67, after opening at RM1.80, with 76.24 million shares traded.
Other actives Sumatec rose 0.5 sen to 31 sen, AT Systematization lost 2.5 sen to 13 sen.
Among heavyweights, Maybank eased 4 sen to RM9.55 and CIMB dipped 3 sen to RM7.60, with Sime Darby gaining 1 sen to RM9.64.
Volume on the Main Market fell to 1.15 billion shares worth RM1.94 billion from 1.4 billion shares worth RM2.55 billion yesterday.
Turnover on the ACE market declined to 305.05 million shares worth RM82.48 million from 679.76 million shares worth RM113.39 million yesterday. Warrants contracted to 29.08 million units valued at RM3.69 million from 40.54 million units valued at RM4.66 million yesterday.
Consumer products accounted for 69.73 million shares on the Main Market, industrial products 116.54 million, construction 64.35 million, trade and services 525.49 million, technology 42.06 million, infrastructure 30.99 million, SPAC 21.91 million, finance 55.11 million, hotels 241,600, properties 200.3 million, plantations 19.86 million, mining 60,000, REITs 9.95 million and closed/fund 28,000. — Bernama
