KL shares turns higher mid-morning

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 26 — Shares on Bursa Malaysia, which opened lower today, turned higher mid-morning following gains in stocks like British American Tobacco and Tenaga Nasional, dealers said.

At 11.01 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI, was 3.48 points better at 1,801.45.

However, losers led gainers 296 to 246, with 322 counters unchanged, 736 untraded and 34 others were suspended.   

Volume stood at 841.4 million shares worth RM417.64 million.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index improved 54.01 points to 16,562.5, the Industrial Index rose 0.47 of-a-point to 3,131.54 while the Plantation Index was 5.09 points lower at 8,803.08.

The FBM Emas Index advanced 16.68 points to 12,530.1, the FBMT100 Index increased 17.3 points to 12,254.68 while the FBM Ace dipped 11.46 points to 5,682.39 and the FBM 70 was 6.19 points lower at 14,245.

Among actives, EA Holdings gained half-a-sen to 20.5 sen while Sumatec lost 2.5 sen to 30.5 sen.

Other actives, Ingenuity Consolidated, Patimas and AT Systematization were unchanged at 9.5 sen, one sen and 15.5 sen, respectively.

Heavyweights, Maybank rose seven sen to RM9.68, CIMB gained three sen to RM7.54, Sime Darby added one sen to RM9.61, Tenaga Nasional surged 13 sen to RM9.77 while Axiata remained unchanged at RM6.73. — Bernama
