KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 13 — Bursa Malaysia ended the morning session easier today, dragged down by losses in heavyweights and in line with regional equities after Wall Street ended overnight in the red, dealers said.
The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 7.72 points or 0.43 per cent lower at 1,787.08, after fluctuating between 1,784.88 and 1,796.19 throughout the morning session.
Regionally, Japan’s Nikkei 225 depreciated to 14,529.73, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng declined to 22,601.82 and Singapore’s Straits Times Index slid to 3,167.74.
On the scoreboard, the Finance Index dipped 100.09 points to 16,563.42, the Plantation Index lost 19.06 points to 8,577.720, and the Industrial Index eased 12.67 points to 3,068.93.
The FBM Emas Index shed 46.26 points to 12,456.37, the FBMT100 Index declined 45.52 points to 12,181.54, the FBM Ace was 61.52 points lower at 5,804.66 and the FBM 70 slipped 24.06 points to 14,261.23.
Decliners overwhelmed advancers 503 to 202, with 293 counters unchanged, 607 untraded and 16 others suspended. Turnover stood at 1.208 billion shares worth RM911.2 million.
Among actives, newly listed Caring Pharmacy gained 63 sen to RM1.88, Asia Bioenergy Tech added 0.5 sen to 13 sen, 1 Utopia earned 0.5 sen to 8.0 sen and Sumatec Resources bagged 4 sen to 55.5 sen.
Among heavyweights, Maybank lost 9 sen to RM9.76, CIMB declined 4 sen to RM7.49 and Axiata slipped 3 sen to RM6.83. — Bernama
