KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 11 — The ringgit rebounded from its recent losses to open lower against the US dollar today on profit-taking after the gains at last week’s close, dealers said.

At 9am, the local currency fell against the greenback to 3.1940/1970 from 3.1785/1805 on Friday.

A dealer said the greenback rose against major currencies in Asia today after the upbeat US jobs data bolstered the case for the Federal Reserve to scale back the stimulus programme as early as next month.

Meanwhile, the ringgit was traded mostly lower against other major currencies.

The local note depreciated against the Singapore dollar to 2.5615/5641 from 2.5563/5595 on Friday but emerged stronger against the yen to 3.2233/2273 from 3.2364/2388 last week.

Against the British pound, the ringgit declined to 5.1146/1206 from 5.1136/1177 on Friday and weakened to 4.2672/2722 from 4.2643/2676 against the euro last week. — Bernama
