Shares on Bursa Malaysia turn mixed mid-morning

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 30 — Shares on Bursa Malaysia turned mixed at mid-morning today due to the lack of interest in selected heavyweights and penny stocks, dealers said.

At 11.41am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased 0.68 of a point to 1,814.97.   

The Finance Index fell 20.89 points to 16,723.88 and the Industrial Index declined 3.47 points to 3,138.34, while the Plantation Index rose 22.86 points to 8,572.19.  

The FBM Emas Index dipped 4.22 points to 12,610.51, the FBMT100 lost 6.23 points to 12,334.39, the FBM Mid 70 Index fell 13.75 points to 14,287.03, and the FBM Ace Index was 11.07 points lower at 5,718.26.   

Gainers led losers by 334 to 302, with 299 counters unchanged, 691 untraded and 59 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 866.28 million shares worth RM595.60 million.   

Among actives, Daya Materials rose 1.5 sen to 38 sen, EA Holdings edged up half-a-sen to 16 sen and SerSol added two sen to 41 sen.

MQ Technology eased one sen to 18.5 sen and AT Systematization decreased 3.5 sen to 27 sen. 

As for the heavyweights, Axiata advanced one sen to RM6.90, while Maybank, Sime Darby and Petronas Chemicals were flat at RM9.81, RM9.56 and RM7.15 respectively.
