Ringgit opens lower against US dollar on lack of buying demand

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 30 — The ringgit opened lower against the US dollar in early trading today on lack of buying demand for the local currency, dealers said.
The ringgit was quoted at 3.1550/1580 against the greenback from 3.1440/1470 yesterday.
The ringgit was also traded lower against other major currencies.
The domestic currency depreciated against the Singapore dollar to 2.5419/5459 from 2.5357/5389 at yesterday’s close but appreciated against the yen to 3.2137/2184 from 3.2191/2228 yesterday.
The local unit weakened against the British pound to 5.0608/0672 from 5.0519/0580 yesterday and was traded lower against the euro to 4.3353/3401 from 4.3241/3285 yesterday. — Bernama
