KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 11 — Bank Negara Malaysia announced today the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank annual meetings in Washington.
The MoU provides the framework to further strengthen bilateral cooperation with the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates.
This is for the development of enhanced financial services linkages between the two countries, including in Islamic finance, to support and facilitate greater financial and economic ties between Malaysia and the UAE.
The MoU was signed by Bank Negara Governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz and Sultan bin Nasser Al Suwaidi, the Governor of the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates.
Commenting on the signing, Zeti said: “The MoU will provide further avenue for our central banks to work together in areas that will facilitate closer financial and economic linkages.
“I look forward to the cooperation and collaboration with the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates in deepening our financial sector linkages.” – Bernama
