KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 4 — Shares on Bursa Malaysia turned mixed at mid-morning trading today on continued buying support in finance counters and selected heavyweights, dealers said.
Public Bank added 24 sen to RM18.02 and Maybank rose three sen to RM9.85.
On the scoreboard, the Finance Index surged 40.68 points to 16,510.13,
the Plantation Index rose 18.04 points to 8,318.16, but the Industrial Index lost 0.29 of a point to 3,053.93.
The FBM Emas Index gained 20.06 points to 12,335.21, the FBM100 Index jumped 20.82 points to 12,073.3, the FBM 70 improved 15.86 points to 14,035.85 while the FBM ACE slid 11.56 points to 5,443.10.
Decliners led advancers 261 to 219, with 294 counters unchanged, 836 untraded and 16 others suspended.
Volume stood at 478.48 million shares worth RM310.34 million.
Among actives, The Media Shoppe and Sona Petroleum-WA was each flat at 16 sen and 28 sen, respectively, while Sumatec-WA lost four sen to 26.5 sen.
Of the heavyweights, Axiata lost one sen to RM6.90, Sime Darby and CIMB slipped three sen each to RM9.51 and RM7.45, respectively. – Bernama
