KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 26 ― Bursa Malaysia turned bearish at mid-morning today, weighed down by selected heavyweights.
At 11.06am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 4.76 points lower at 1,779.3. Of the heavyweights, Maybank eased four sen to RM9.81, CIMB fell three sen to RM7.76, Petronas Dagangan trimmed 28 sen to RM28.68 and RHB Capital fell 10 sen to RM7.74.
JF Apex Securities said the Asian equity markets were headed for a third session of losses today following the overnight decline on Wall Street.
It said investors were likely to stay on the sidelines ahead of next week's US budget vote.
“Given the bearish sentiment, the KLCI could break its immediate support of 1,780 points today,” it said.
The Plantation Index eased 5.61 points to 8,348.56 and Finance Index fell 78.89 points to 16,552.29.
The Industrial Index, however, inched up 0.55 of-a-point to 3,047.83.
The FBM Emas Index declined 32.41 points lower to 12,364.93, FBM100 Index eased 33.67 points to 12,101.21 and the FBM Ace fell 27.1 points to 5,464.95.
Losers led gainers by 293 to 194, with 266 counters unchanged, 830 untraded and 26 others suspended.
Volume stood at 780.64 million shares worth RM493.10 million.
Among the actives, MAS added 1.5 sen to 34.5 sen, SerSol went up a sen to RM1.03 and Zelan rose 2.5 sen to 26.5 sen.
The Media Shoppe edged down half-a-sen to 17 sen. ― Bernama
