KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 — Sapura Industrial Bhd’s pre-tax profit for the second quarter ended July 31, 2013 rose to RM5.11 million from RM2 million chalked up in the same quarter last year.
Revenue increased to RM68.37 million, during the period under review, from RM67.19 million recorded in the corresponding quarter.
In a filing to Bursa Malaysia today, Sapura said the better results were derived from improved domestic volume.
On prospects, Sapura was cautious as market conditions continued to remain challenging for the automotive sector.
“As such, Sapura has intensified its efforts to further strengthen its operational efficiency,” it said.
The Malaysian Automotive Association forecast total industry volume this year to grow 1.8 per cent to 639,214 compared with 627,753 last year. — Bernama
