KL shares stay lower mid-afternoon

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia stayed lower mid-afternoon, dragged by losses in index-linked counters.

At 3.07pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI was 7.62 points lower at 1,784.86.

Maybank fell eight sen to RM9.89 while CIMB lost 13 sen to RM7.77. Both counters contributed 3.042 points to the key index. 

Decliners edged advancers 315 to 382, with 285 counters unchanged, 601 untraded and 13 others were suspended.

Volume stood at 1.49 billion shares worth RM1.05 billion.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index erased 126.75 points to 16,662.72, the Industrial Index was 6.51 points lower at 3,047.39, the FBM Emas Index trimmed 45.42 points to 12,397.51 and the FBM100 Index declined 48.63 points to 12,134.98.

The FBM Ace fell 12.57 points to 5,476.01 and the Plantation Index eased 11.85 points to 8,355.32.

Among actives, Frontken added two sen to 9.5 sen, China Stationery perked half-a-sen to 21.5 sen, TH Heavy Engineering rose 4.5 sen to 91 sen but The Media Shoppe edged down half-a-sen to 17 sen. 

Heavyweights, Sime Darby added one sen to RM9.51, Petronas Chemicals and Maxis rose two sen each to RM6.92 and RM7.02, respectively, while Axiata was flat at RM6.90. — Bernama
