KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 19 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia remained in the negative territory mid-afternoon with trading remaining lacklustre weighed by index-linked counters.
At 3.10pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 10.45 points lower at 1,777.79.
Of the FBM KLCI-linked companies, Maybank lost 12 sen to RM10.36 and CIMB shed 10 sen to RM7.94.
On the scoreboard, the Finance Index fell 143.24 points to 16,902.57, Industrial Index eased 6.99 points to 3,007.91 and the Plantation Index erased 44.68 points to 8,274.05.
The FBM Emas Index gave up 58.26 points to 12,419.09, the FBM70 Index decreased 23.05 points to 14,309.34 but the FBM Ace Index increased 34.3 points to 5,518.09.
Decliners outpaced advancers 432 to 316 while 299 counters were unchanged, 534 untraded and 11 others were suspended.
Volume stood at 2.285 billion shares worth RM1.477 million.
Among active stocks, MAS added five sen to 38 sen, Flonic Hi-Tec added one sen to 20.5 sen, The Media Shoppe inched up half-a-sen to 11 sen while Instacom Group was flat at 42 sen.
In heavyweights, Maxis added one sen to RM7.22, Axiata and Sime Darby both fell one sen to RM6.90 and RM9.49, respectively, while Petronas Chemicals was flat at RM6.62. — Bernama
