Bursa closing share prices marginally low

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia closed marginally lower today in the absence of interest in the holiday-shortened week.

The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) edged lower by 0.5 of a point to end at 1,784.64 after moving between 1,779.47 and 1,784.64 throughout the day.

Among the top losers, RHB Capital fell 25 sen to RM8.05, Batu Kawan lost 20 sen to RM18.30, JT International eased 18 sen to RM6.50 and Apex Healthcare was 15 sen lower at RM4.77.

The Industrial Index rose 7.77 points to 3,027.88 and the Plantation Index added 5.01 points to 8,345.74. The Finance Index, however, fell 10.41 points to 16,928.36.

The FBM Emas Index added 11.36 points to 12,440.53, FBM70 Index jumped 48.26 points to 14,319.5 and the FBMT100 Index rose 6.46 points to 12,179.5. The FBM ACE fell 14.39 points to 5,112.04.

The gainers-to-losers ratio was 410 to 340, with 295 counters unchanged, 529 untraded and 11 others suspended. Total turnover eased to 1.279 billion shares worth RM1.64 billion from 1.589 billion shares worth RM1.56 billion yesterday.

Among actives, Instacom Group added 1.5 sen to 37 sen and UEM Sunrise rose 5 sen to RM2.79. Daya Materials lost 2 sen to 31 sen and Iris Corp eased 1 sen to 22.5 sen. Sona Petroleum was flat at 43.5 sen.

Of the heavyweights, Maybank gained 2 sen to RM10.42, CIMB earned 3 sen to RM7.88, Axiata edged up 1 sen to RM6.85, Sime Darby was 2 sen higher to RM9.52 and Maxis increased 7 sen to RM7.15.

Volume on the Main Market eased to 954.088 million units worth RM1.569 billion from 1.126 billion units worth RM1.474 billion yesterday.

Turnover on the ACE market fell to 292.637 million shares valued at RM70.164 million from 434.336 million shares valued at RM85.268 million yesterday.

Warrants rose to 31.680 million units worth RM4.250 million from 27.952 million units worth RM2.895 million previously.

Consumer products accounted for 44.622 million shares on the Main Market, industrial products 108.930 million, construction 58.316 million, trade and services 327.199 million, technology 37.580 million, infrastructure 15.803 million, SPAC 168.005 million, finance 55.233 million, hotels 2.082 million, properties 113.452 million, plantations 6.927 million, mining 204,300, REITs 15.322 million and closed/fund 408,500. — Bernama
