GEORGE TOWN, July 13 — Product quality and customers service are the keys to arrest the further decline in Proton’s market share, says Proton Edar Sdn Bhd.
Chief executive officer, Hisham Othman, said Proton’s market share has declined and there was a need to arrest it and turn it around.
“The market share would go up again with the launch of the latest variant, the affordable Proton Saga SV, which has received an overwhelming response.
“The variant has received over 6,000 bookings in two weeks,” he told Bernama here today.
Hisham said the Proton’s marketing arm also aimed to sell more than 175,000 vehicles in the financial year 2013/14 driven by assurance on quality, value for money and customer service.
“The first thing we concentrate on are customer service and product quality as they would support the sales.
“Proton today is much better in terms of reliability, after-sales service and customer handling,” he said.
Hisham said Proton Edar’s vision was to provide vehicles or variants that every Malaysian wanted to buy due to value for money, quality service and product.
He said Proton joined DRB-HICOM last year and the immediate impact was to see a positive sales and grow the national car’s market share, adding that it could be realised amid DRB-HICOM’s experience from car manufacturing, assembly to distribution. — Bernama
