SHAH ALAM, Nov 8 — The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) at Port Klang seized a consignment of buffalo meat, valued at RM413,728 and imported from India, at Port Klang on Friday (Nov 6).

Port Klang AKPS commander Datuk Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said an inspection conducted by enforcement officers at 10.40am detected discrepancies between the halal certificate documents submitted and the information declared in the import permit.

“The documents were found to contain information that did not correspond with the declaration. Following this, the entire consignment weighing 27,984 kilogrammes (kg) was seized for further investigation,” he said in a statement posted on the Port Klang AKPS Facebook page today.

Nik Ezanee said the goods would be handed over to the Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Department (MAQIS) for further action, with the case being investigated under the Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Act 2011 (Act 728).

He also reaffirmed AKPS’ commitment to intensifying enforcement efforts and strengthening controls at the country’s entry points to combat non-compliance, document manipulation and abuse of import procedures. — Bernama
