KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 — Motorists and commuters heading towards Bukit Jalil face severe traffic gridlock this evening and tomorrow as Canadian superstar The Weeknd takes the stage at the National Stadium for the two-night finale of his global tour.

With roughly 130,000 concertgoers expected across both nights at the 80,000-capacity arena, traffic authorities have issued advisories warning of heavy delays across major highway arteries feeding into KL Sports City.

Routes to avoid

Bottlenecks are anticipated along the Shah Alam Expressway (KESAS), the Maju Expressway (MEX), the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Expressway, the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2), and local arterial access roads.

Drivers are told to adhere strictly to the instructions of on-site marshals and stay alert for high pedestrian foot traffic around the stadium precinct.

Motorists are specifically advised to avoid Jalan Merah Caga and Jalan Barat, where congestion is expected to peak.

Instead, incoming drivers should stay on the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Expressway, exit at the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) junction, and follow navigational signage towards designated parking zones.

Park here instead?

To relieve parking pressure around the immediate stadium perimeter, alternative parking has been set up at MRANTI Park and the Calvary Convention Centre.

Concertgoers relying on e-hailing services must use the dedicated pick-up and drop-off facility established at the Endah Parade E-Hailing Hub to prevent curb-side drop-offs from choking stadium access routes.

Better yet, take the train

Public transport operator Rapid KL has extended operating hours across selected train lines on both nights to encourage fans to leave their cars behind. The final boarding cut-off at the Bukit Jalil LRT station on the Sri Petaling Line is set at 12.30am for direct services bound for both Putra Heights and Sentul Timur.

Passengers requiring rail transfers must board at Bukit Jalil significantly earlier to secure connections. Commuters transferring to the LRT Ampang Line or the MRT Putrajaya Line must depart Bukit Jalil by midnight. This allows Ampang Line riders to catch the 12.13am final connection at Chan Sow Lin, while Putrajaya Line commuters can change trains at Sungai Besi before the last services depart for Kwasa Damansara at 12.15am and Putrajaya Sentral at 12.34am.

An earlier 11.30pm departure deadline applies to fans heading towards the LRT Kelana Jaya Line, the KL Monorail, or the MRT Kajang Line. Passengers transferring to the Kelana Jaya Line at Masjid Jamek can catch the final train to Putra Heights at 12.03am or Gombak at 12.17am, while monorail riders at Hang Tuah have until 12.08am for Titiwangsa and 12.10am for KL Sentral. Commuters bound for the MRT Kajang Line face a two-step transit journey: they must transfer to the Putrajaya Line at Sungai Besi by 11.45pm, then complete a second transfer at Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) before final departures at 12.10am towards Kwasa Damansara and 12.13am towards Kajang.

To support transit use, Rapid KL highlighted 15 park-and-ride hubs along the LRT Ampang and Sri Petaling corridors, including facilities at Ampang, Pandan Jaya, Taman Perindustrian Puchong, Kinrara BK5, Sentul, Putra Heights, and Sungai Besi. Another 14 multi-storey car parks are available along the MRT Putrajaya Line, serving stations such as Metro Prima, Sri Damansara Timur, Cyberjaya Utara, UPM, and Taman Naga Emas.

Drivers using official rail-operated parking pay flat daily rates ranging between RM4.30 and RM5.00 per entry, provided they tap in and out using the identical Touch ‘n Go card utilized for their train journey. Parking bay occupancy can be tracked in real time via the MyRapid Pulse mobile application.

The two Bukit Jalil dates bring the curtain down on The Weeknd’s After Hours Til Dawn tour, which etched its name in modern pop history by selling more than 7.5 million tickets and generating over US$1 billion (RM4.1 billion) in box-office receipts, making it the highest-earning concert tour ever mounted by a male solo artist.
