MELAKA, Nov 3 — Melaka Pakatan Harapan (PH) has unveiled its ‘Melaka Rumah Kita’ manifesto, outlining three main thrusts and 12 aspirations aimed at improving public welfare, expanding economic opportunities and promoting clean, transparent and efficient governance.

Its chairman, Adly Zahari, said the first thrust focused on transforming Melaka into a smart state to improve efficiency, security and quality of life.

“Under the second thrust, PH proposes allocating 30 per cent of local authority contracts to young men and women to provide employment, business opportunities and practical experience for local youths.

“Under the third thrust, PH aims to attract 25 million visitors to Melaka by 2032, positioning the state as a more competitive, internationally recognised destination,” he said at a daily press conference and the launch of the manifesto at the PH main operations centre in Bukit Piatu here today.

Also present were Melaka PH deputy chairman Khoo Poay Tiong and acting Melaka PKR state leadership council chairman Adam Adli Abd Halim.

Adly said the manifesto’s 12 aspirations included affordable housing, people-friendly governance, quality employment, women’s empowerment, entrepreneurship and public welfare, improving traffic flow, strengthening Islamic institutions and religious activities, developing idle land for economic opportunities, optimising state land use and preserving social unity and harmony.

He said the manifesto was developed based on feedback gathered through engagements with residents and traders, alongside PH’s experience in state and federal administration.

“With these three thrusts and 12 aspirations, this ‘Melaka Rumah Kita’ manifesto sets out our direction for a government that upholds public trust, creates income opportunities and ensures development improves people’s lives.

“We hope these aspirations will be discussed and considered by the public. We will also introduce additional areas of focus to fulfil our commitment to serving the people, particularly by helping ease their cost-of-living burden.

“PH also plans to organise a series of forums and programmes to explain each of the proposed aspirations to voters throughout the campaign for the state election,” he said.

Early voting for the election is scheduled for Nov 10, with polling day set for Nov 14.
