KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 2 — The government has agreed to improve the career progression of senior Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) officers in recognition of their heavy responsibilities in defending national sovereignty and security, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He said the agreement was reached during a special meeting with MAF’s top leadership, which he chaired today.
He noted that the move aligns with the need to strengthen national defence capabilities amid an increasingly complex and challenging global security and geostrategic landscape.
“The meeting also provided an opportunity for us to examine the readiness of each service branch, as well as the procurement and maintenance needs of defence assets, to ensure the MAF’s operational capabilities remain at their peak,” he said in a Facebook post.
Anwar said he valued direct input and feedback from the MAF leadership, emphasising that every government policy and decision must be based on actual needs on the ground rather than mere considerations on paper.
The Prime Minister assured that the Madani government will continue to pay close attention to the welfare and needs of MAF personnel.
“Defending the sovereignty and peace of our homeland is not solely the responsibility of the security forces, but a sacred trust that we must uphold together,” he said. — Bernama
