LIPIS, Oct 28 — The Pahang government is prepared to increase its allocation to deal with the 2026/2027 Northeast Monsoon (MTL) if the initial amount provided is insufficient, depending on current needs.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said an initial allocation of more than RM3 million had been provided this year to deliver essential supplies in preparation for the monsoon, adding that the state government was constantly monitoring the disaster situation in the state.

“This is an initial allocation, and the amount will be adjusted according to needs. If it is insufficient, we will increase it because we have stocks of supplies,” he said.

He told reporters this after the presentation of the Makmur Pahang Incentive Initiative to chairmen and secretaries of the Pahang Village Development and Security Committees (JPKK) 2026 at Dewan Jubli Perak Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah here today.

Yesterday, the media reported that the Pahang state government had allocated more than RM3 million to prepare for the 2026/2027 Northeast Monsoon, including the early delivery of aid to 167 forward bases throughout the state.

A total of 332,906 units of dry food supplies, comprising nine basic food items weighing 225.11 tonnes, were distributed to forward bases from Oct 27 to Nov 14.

Wan Rosdy said the state government had also made thorough preparations for possible flooding, including preparing essential supplies and safety equipment to ensure that aid could be delivered promptly to affected residents.

“We pray that floods will not occur, but if they do and cannot be avoided, we have made thorough preparations to help those affected,” he said.

On today’s event, he said the state government had also provided contributions to 332 chairmen and secretaries of Village Development and Security Committees (JPKK), as well as cash assistance and laptops to patients and students.

“All this has been made possible by the state’s improving and stronger financial position, enabling us to provide assistance to those in need. Insya-Allah, we will continue to increase Pahang’s revenue so that the state government will be able to channel its returns to the people,” he said. — Bernama
