KUANTAN, Oct 27 — The Pahang state government has allocated more than RM3 million to prepare for the 2026/2027 Northeast Monsoon (MTL), including the early delivery of aid supplies to 167 forward bases statewide.
Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the state government, through the Pahang Social Welfare Department (JKM), had coordinated a total allocation of RM3,785,115.30 for dry food supplies, logistics, transportation and labour costs across 11 districts.
He said 332,906 units of dry food supplies, comprising nine basic food items weighing a total of 225.11 tonnes, would be distributed to the forward bases from today until Nov 14.
“These include five-kilogram bags of imported Super rice, one-kilogram packs of granulated sugar, two-kilogram packs of cooking oil, 400-gram packs of iodised white salt, Kopi-O bags, tea bags, sardines, chicken curry and assorted biscuits,” he said in a statement today.
He said early logistical preparations were crucial, particularly for remote areas at high risk of being cut off by road, such as upstream areas in the Jerantut and Lipis districts, as well as island areas such as Pulau Tioman in Rompin.
Wan Rosdy also expressed appreciation for the concerted efforts of the Pahang Social Welfare Department, District Disaster Management Committees and rescue agencies in ensuring a robust aid supply chain to safeguard the people of the state.
The statement said the distribution of supplies was determined exclusively based on historical flood impact data.
“Jerantut received the highest allocation among the districts, amounting to RM1,062,893.50, due to the logistical complexities of upstream areas. This was followed by Temerloh at RM962,153 and Rompin, including preparations for a dedicated logistics store on Pulau Tioman, at RM638,782,” it said.
It added that the food supplies would benefit more than 65,000 flood victims. All items meet verified market specifications, are monitored for shelf life and have a long storage life. — Bernama
