MELAKA, Oct 26 — All educational institutions under the Ministry of Education (MOE) in Melaka will operate as usual tomorrow, said the Melaka State Education Department.
In a statement, the Melaka Education Department announced that outdoor classroom activities may proceed as usual in areas recording an Air Pollutant Index (API) reading below 100.
However, the department stated that all outdoor activities, including physical education, co-curricular and sports activities, camps, celebrations, assemblies, and activities in open halls, must be suspended if the API reading exceeds 100, in line with MOE Circular No. 1 of 2019.
“The End-of-Session Academic Assessment (UASA) will continue according to the schedule set by each school, including internal examinations.
“Schools are also urged to exercise due consideration for students unable to attend for health reasons, including permitting them to sit for the examinations at a later date,” the statement read.
The department also advised students to wear face masks, particularly those experiencing respiratory symptoms or belonging to high-risk groups.
“Parents and guardians concerned about the effects of the haze on their children’s health may choose not to send them to school, provided they inform the school.
“Parents, guardians, and all members of the education community are advised to refer to the Melaka Education Department’s official channels for the latest information on the operation of educational institutions,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, the Pahang Education Department announced in a statement that all schools in the state will operate as usual starting tomorrow, with any changes to be communicated from time to time through the respective District Education Offices. — Bernama
