ALOR GAJAH, Oct 11 — Pakatan Harapan (PH) will announce its candidates for the Melaka state election on October 18, with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expected to personally unveil the line-up, said his political secretary Datuk Azman Abidin.

Azman said the venue for the announcement would be announced at a later date.

“The location of the announcement will be announced later,” he told reporters after attending the ‘Jalinan Madani Rider Jelajah Melaka’ programme, which was also attended by Deputy Higher Education Minister Adam Adli Abd Halim, here today.

On speculation that he would contest the Paya Rumput seat in the election, Azman said he would leave the matter to the party leadership.

He said PKR was targeting seven or eight seats in the election, including Machap Jaya and Rembia.

The Election Commission (EC) has set October 31 for nominations, November 10 for early voting and November 14 for polling, following the dissolution of the Melaka State Legislative Assembly on September 23.

In the 2021 Melaka state election, Barisan Nasional (BN) won 21 of the 28 seats, while PH secured five and Perikatan Nasional (PN) two. — Bernama
