KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 — The government has proposed a full stamp duty exemption on loan agreements and instruments of transfer for first homes priced up to RM500,000, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced today.

Anwar also said the government would provide a full exemption on the first RM500,000 and a 50 per cent exemption on the remaining amount for first homes priced up to RM750,000.

“The exemptions would apply to sale and purchase agreements executed from January 1, 2027, to December 31, 2030,” he said.

Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, said this when tabling the Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat today.

In a separate measure aimed at eliminating abandoned housing projects by 2030, Anwar said the government will also provide full stamp duty exemptions on loan agreements and instruments of transfer executed between rehabilitating contractors or developers and the original purchasers.

“The exemption for abandoned housing projects will also take effect from January 1, 2027, to December 31, 2030,” he said.
