KUALA LUMPUR, October 9 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has arrived at Parliament to present the Budget 2027.

One small focus today is definitely the file folder containing the official Budget 2027 document.

This year, the Budget 2027 folder is the handiwork of local artisan David Cho Chee Min, founder of Heritage Baskets in collaboration with local upcycled jeweller Amira Wani Jamil, founder of Ipil Kupil.

The Ministry of Finance (MOF) shared a few photos of Anwar posing with both artisans via X, detailing the unique folder made of woven steel wire, bamboo and recycled leather.

“Yesterday, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, had the opportunity to meet with local artisans David Cho Chee Min and Amira Wani Jamil, who crafted a special piece in conjunction with Budget 2027.

“Combining the art of steel-wire weaving, bamboo, and recycled leather, this piece symbolises the unique diversity of Malaysia, brought together through creativity, resilience, and sustainability,” MOF wrote in the tweet.

Anwar, who is presenting his fifth Budget today, also shared that his outfit of the day consists of a light-blue Cekak Musang-style baju Melayu from Kuala Lumpur, a samping made by the inmates from Kajang prison, a pair of capal (sandals) from Permatang Pauh and a songkok from Johor.

Earlier today, Anwar tweeted that Budget 2027 aims to deliver inclusive growth that directly improves the quality of life and upholds the dignity of every citizen.
