KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 3 — Rapid KL said it has improved shuttle bus arrangements at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) today following complaints from Formula One spectators over long queues and delays yesterday.

Rapid KL said that as of 11am, traffic and passenger movements were smooth and under control, adding that it would continue monitoring the situation with SIC and the relevant agencies.

“Following the feedback received, Rapid KL together with SIC and the relevant agencies have made improvements to arrangements at the pick-up and drop-off locations,” it said in a statement.

“These improvements have been implemented from today to ensure smoother and more orderly passenger movements,” it added.

The public transport operator said it had taken note of passenger feedback over journeys to SIC yesterday and worked with the circuit and relevant agencies on the changes.

Rapid KL nevertheless said its shuttle services yesterday had operated as planned and in accordance with arrangements agreed with the event organisers, Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) and SIC.

It said its responsibilities included managing bus movements and passenger flows according to the agreed operating arrangements, while overall traffic coordination to and from SIC and vehicle movements around pick-up and drop-off areas were managed jointly with the organiser and relevant agencies.

The response follows complaints from spectators yesterday of severe congestion, disorganised shuttle queues and waits of several hours to leave the circuit after the first day of the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.

Rapid KL had earlier announced that 95 free shuttle buses would operate between SIC and KLIA Terminal 2, Mitsui Outlet Park and Bandar Baru Enstek, with buses scheduled every 10 to 15 minutes subject to traffic conditions.

The operator said it would continue working with all parties to improve coordination and passenger movements throughout the event.
