JOHOR BAHRU, Sept 30 – Several areas in the Johor Bahru district and city were hit by flash floods following a heavy afternoon downpour.

The heavy rain that started at 1pm caused traffic congestion on major roads in the city. The situation persisted towards 5pm.

The roads affected were Jalan Kolam Air, Jalan Ayer Molek, Jalan Yahya Awal, Jalan Pantai and Jalan Wong Ah Fook in the city.

Parts of Tampoi and Taman Perling also reported flash flooding.

Videos and photos of the flash floods on social media showed stranded vehicles in the aftermath of the flooding. 

The flash floods started to recede by 7pm.
