KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 29 — A total of 31 areas nationwide recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as at 9 am today.

According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, the areas included the Serian Police headquarters in Sarawak with the air pollutant index at 175; Pasir Gudang (170) and Larkin (169) in Johor; Bandaraya Melaka (166); Nilai, Negeri Sembilan (165); Johan Setia, Selangor (163); and Batu Muda in the capital (114).

Thirty areas had a moderate API reading while seven areas had a good API reading.

An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy and 300 and above, hazardous. — Bernama
