KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 — Security at the residence of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in Jalan Langgak Duta here is still being maintained around the clock, said Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus.

He said the security detail was provided as soon as police were informed of the matter and remains in place to this day, according to a report by national news agency Bernama.

“We provided security from the very beginning when we received the notification and it is still ongoing today. We will maintain it 24 hours a day while awaiting further instructions,” he told reporters.

He was speaking after attending the handover ceremony for the Kuala Lumpur Special Branch chief and Dang Wangi district police chief at the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) today.

Fadil said the security detail at the residence involves personnel from the Sentul District Police Headquarters (IPD) and the Kuala Lumpur IPK.

In a related development, Fadil said continuity in the leadership of the Kuala Lumpur police force would continue with the appointment of SAC Shaidatul Akmar Mohd Noor as Kuala Lumpur Special Branch chief.

He said the Special Branch plays an important role in ensuring the security and stability of the capital are maintained, particularly amid an increasingly dynamic security landscape.
