KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 — Television and radio stations have been urged to moderate and adjust their programming as a mark of respect following the passing of Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali today.

Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil also conveyed his condolences to the family of the wife of former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

“On behalf of the Government, I extend my condolences to the family of Allahyarhamah Tun Dr Siti Hasmah, especially to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his family.

“This is a deeply saddening moment. The late Tun Dr Siti Hasmah contributed greatly to the country and was often seen as someone close to the people,” he told reporters after officiating the launch of local mobile operator BeOne Mobile here today.

Tun Dr Siti Hasmah died at the National Heart Institute (IJN) this morning at the age of 100.

Her death was confirmed by her son, Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir, when contacted by Bernama today. — Bernama
