KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 26 — A policeman suffered multiple facial fractures after he was allegedly attacked by two men while responding to a complaint about loud music in Raub, Pahang, Berita Harian reported.

Corporal Nik Mohd Farid Nik Pa sustained fractures to his left cheekbone and the area below his left eye, as well as a broken nose, bruising and bleeding around the eye.

He also suffered soft-tissue injuries to his right knee and is undergoing further examinations to determine whether his right ankle was fractured.

Acting Pahang police chief Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob said the incident happened at about 2.45am in Kampung Pamah Kulat, Dong, after residents reported two men disturbing the peace by playing loud music by the roadside.

Police said the suspects, aged 26 and 30, are Myanmar nationals who work at a plantation.

“Checks found that both suspects were intoxicated and disturbing the peace by playing loud music by the roadside.

“After they were reprimanded, both suspects became angry and attacked the policeman. As a result of the assault, the victim suffered injuries to his head and several parts of his body before seeking treatment at hospital,” Azry said.

The policeman later underwent a CT scan at Hospital Lipis.

The two suspects were detained shortly after the incident. No weapons were used in the alleged attack, according to the report.

Police are investigating the case under Section 353 of the Penal Code for using criminal force against a public servant in the execution of his duty.

The offence is punishable by up to two years’ imprisonment, a fine of up to RM10,000, or both.
