KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 — Former Dewan Negara president Tan Sri Rais Yatim is expected to be charged at the Ayer Keroh Sessions Court in Melaka today.

A check of the e-Kehakiman portal showed Rais listed for proceedings before Judge Raja Noor Adilla Raja Mahyaldin at 9am, while Rais has also reportedly confirmed the matter when contacted by the media, Astro Awani reported.

Details of the charge, including the relevant legal provision, have not been disclosed.

Rais was reported to have attended a ceremony proclaiming Tunku Nadzaruddin Tuanku Ja’afar as the 12th Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan at a hotel in Alor Gajah, Melaka, on June 5.

He later told the media that the process had been carried out according to state customs.

The validity of the proclamation was subsequently disputed.

The Dewan Keadilan dan Undang later affirmed that Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir remained the legitimate Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan and that there was no vacancy in the position.
