KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 24 — A total of nine areas in Sarawak recorded Air Pollutant Index (API) readings at unhealthy levels as of 4pm today, with the Serian District Police Headquarters (IPD) recording the highest reading at 200.

According to the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, other areas that recorded unhealthy readings were Kuching (188), Samarahan (179), Sri Aman (172), Bintulu (162), Sarikei (157), Sibu (156), Samalaju (155) and Kapit (133).

Meanwhile, 48 areas recorded moderate readings, including Batu Muda, Kuala Lumpur (75); Keningau, Sabah (60); Seberang Perai, Penang (53); and Kota Bharu, Kelantan (52). Another 11 areas recorded good readings.

An API reading of zero to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 is moderate, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 is very unhealthy, while 301 and above is hazardous. — Bernama
