KOTA BHARU, Sept 20 — Five temporary relief centres (PPS) have been opened in Gua Musang following heavy rain since last night, with 221 victims from 57 families housed at the centres as of 1.33pm today.
According to the Social Welfare Department’s (JKM) InfoBencana portal, three districts were affected by the flooding.
The five relief centres are Masjid Jeram Tekoh, Jeram Tekoh Zone 3 Community Hall, Sekolah Kebangsaan Jeram Tekoh, Felda Chiku 6 Community Hall and Sekolah Kebangsaan Limau Kasturi 1.
Meanwhile, Kelantan Civil Defence Force (APM) deputy director Lt Col Mohd Farid Ishak said the Gua Musang district APM had deployed personnel in two main teams to carry out follow-up operations in the affected areas.
He said the post-flood team was tasked with carrying out clean-up operations in Kampung Sungai Asap A and Kampung Renok as floodwaters receded, while the Rescue Team was deployed to assist in evacuating affected residents, particularly in the Limau Kasturi area.
He said Gua Musang APM was also continuing to monitor high-risk areas from time to time and remained on standby to conduct rescue and evacuation operations if necessary.
“Members of the public, particularly those living in low-lying areas and near rivers, are advised to remain vigilant, comply with the authorities’ instructions and immediately move to designated relief centres if instructed,” he said when contacted today. — Bernama
