KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 8 — Quick action by firefighters saved a man who jumped from the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah 5 Bridge in Kuala Selangor last night.

According to Kosmo! Online, the 44-year-old man was rescued at about 9.15pm after a firefighter swam 50 metres from the riverbank to reach him. 

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division assistant director Asrul Riezal Asbar said the department received an emergency call at 8.05pm, with five firefighters from the Kuala Selangor Fire and Rescue Station involved in the operation.

He said the firefighters, who arrived five minutes later, immediately began the rescue operation.

“The victim was rescued by a firefighter who swam 50 metres towards his location.

“The man did not suffer any injuries and was subsequently handed over to Health Ministry personnel and police for further action,” he said today.
