KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 6 — The Madani Government remains committed to strengthening Islamic affairs in Malaysia through increased funding and efforts that have helped the country achieve global recognition in several areas.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan said the increase in allocation for Islamic affairs from RM1.5 billion in 2023 to RM2.6 billion this year reflected the government’s commitment to advancing the sector.

“Malaysia’s haj management has been recognised as the best in the world for five consecutive years, while the country’s halal industry is ranked number one globally,” he said when officiating the Madani Kita Programme (PMK) 2026 at the Lembah Pantai Community Centre here today.

He also noted that Malaysia’s Islamic banking sector has held the top global position for the past 10 years.

Zulkifli said the government would continue developing the Islamic affairs agenda within the framework of the law while upholding respect for diversity and differences in society

The PMK programme, an initiative by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) and agencies under Religious Affairs, aims to bring government services closer to the people through information-sharing, engagement and various community services.

The programme offers various services, including advice, health screenings, education, training and career development. — Bernama
