MACC detains company owner for allegedly soliciting RM30,000 to secure defence‑sector financing

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 5 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Kuala Lumpur has arrested an owner of a consulting, management and business company on suspicion of soliciting and accepting bribes of about RM30,000 in return for obtaining grants and loans under the Bumiputera entrepreneur financial financing scheme for two companies related to armaments and defence.

According to sources, the woman, in her 60s, was arrested at about 6.45pm on Thursday around Kuala Lumpur.

“Initial investigations found that the suspect committed the act in March 2025 and is suspected of soliciting and accepting bribes amounting to about RM30,000 from an owner of a company related to armaments and defence,” he said.

According to sources, a seven-day remand order until Sept 10 against the woman was issued by Magistrate Aliaa Anwar after an application was made by the MACC at the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate’s Court yesterday morning.

Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur MACC director Mohamad Zakkuan Talib when contacted confirmed the arrest and the case is being investigated under Section 16(a) (A) of the MACC Act 2009. — Bernama
