KOTA TINGGI, Sept 4 — The body of a third missing teenager has been recovered from the waters near Tanjung Siang, following a tragic incident at Tanjung Lompat in Bandar Penawar.

The victim, 16-year-old Muhammad Adib Hafiy Kamal, was found floating by the search and rescue (SAR) team and members of the public at 11.15am today, approximately five kilometres from the site of the initial incident.

Kota Tinggi deputy police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Syamsuri Mohamad confirmed the discovery.

“The body has been taken to the Crime Scene Control (CSC) centre at 11.45am for identification by the next of kin before further action,”  he said when contacted today.

Mohd Najib Sam, the acting director of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Tanjung Sedili Zone, confirmed that the victim was positively identified as Muhammad Adib. The body has since been moved to the Kota Tinggi Hospital forensics unit for a post-mortem examination.

“The SAR team will continue the operation for the fourth and last victim,” Najib said in a statement today.

The search area has been expanded and refined to 103 square nautical miles, with operations coordinated by the Johor Bahru Maritime Rescue Sub Centre (MRSC).

Rescue teams are currently contending with challenging conditions, including south-southwest winds of 20 to 30 kilometres per hour and wave heights between 1.0 and 1.5 metres.

Today’s operation involved 61 personnel from various agencies, supported by volunteers from the local community.

Of the four teenagers originally reported missing, three have now been recovered, including Alif Taqiuddin Kamal Hasrul and Muhammad Thaqif Rayyan Rumainoor, both aged 16.

The SAR operation, now in its third day, remains focused on locating the final missing teenager, Muhammad Haiman Fitri Supian.
