KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 — The roller coaster attraction involved in the August 22, 2026 incident at Sunway Lagoon theme park in Subang Jaya, which is believed to have stopped abruptly after failing to move forward during a ride, remains closed while investigations are ongoing.
Sunway Lagoon Sdn Bhd said in a statement today that it continues to work closely with the relevant authorities and is providing its full cooperation throughout the investigation.
“Sunway Theme Parks remains firmly committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and to ensuring the well-being of everyone who visits our parks,” it said.
Sunway Theme Parks confirms that all guests who were admitted to the hospital for further observation following the incident have now been discharged.
“We recognise that the incident was distressing for those involved and caused understandable concern among their families.
“We sincerely regret what our guests experienced and remain in close contact with those affected to provide the necessary assistance and support,” it added.
The company emphasised that the safety and well-being of its guests is its top priority.
“We understand that the incident has also raised concerns among our guests and the wider public about the safety of our attractions, and we take these concerns seriously,” it said. — Bernama
