Malaysia’s King and Queen mark 69th National Day, send greetings to all citizens

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 31 — Malaysia’s King and Queen, Their Majesties Sultan Ibrahim and Raja Zarith Sofiah, extended 69th National Day greetings to all Malaysians. 

The royal message was conveyed through a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s official Facebook page today.

Earlier, Their Majesties arrived at the National Day celebration in Putrajaya at 8am and were received by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, as well as Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil, who also serves as chairman of the National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) 2026 Main Committee.

Themed “Malaysia Madani: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati”, the celebration commenced with a military ceremony, followed by stage performances and a colourful parade that reflected the aspirations of Malaysia Madani as a nation that prioritises the wellbeing of its people and honours diversity.

The parade and march-past involved 10,819 participants across 76 contingents, 22 brass bands, 11 decorated vehicles, 328 land, sea and air assets, and 112 service animals, alongside 22 electric vehicles.

Adding to the vibrancy of the event was a human graphic display on the terraces, featuring 26 distinct formations weaving a rich tapestry of Malaysia’s multicultural identity.

The celebration drew over 80,000 visitors. — Bernama
