PUTRAJAYA, Aug 30  — Participants in the AI for the People (AI Untuk Rakyat) programme must complete and pass six designated modules to qualify for a free three-month subscription to selected artificial intelligence (AI) applications and software.

The programme, which targets 100,000 Malaysians aged between 18 and 30 until 2027, will commence today in phases through the Rakyat Digital portal at rakyatdigital.gov.my, where interested youths can register.

In a statement today, the Digital Ministry said the six modules are AI Nation 2030: The Madani Approach, CYBERSAFE for the People, Generative AI, AI Security, Agentic AI for All and Cloud for the People.

“Participants who successfully complete and pass all the designated course modules will enjoy a free three-month subscription to various selected AI applications and software.

“For a start, eligible participants will be given special access to AI tools from local and international technology providers, namely YTL AI Labs — IlmuChat, Alibaba — Wonderclip and MuleRun, and Google — Gemini Enterprise,” it said.

The ministry said various other AI software and tools from technology companies would be added in phases to further enrich the learning experience.

It said the initiative would give youths opportunities to explore advanced technology practically, helping to enhance their creativity, productivity and digital skills.

“This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that advancements in AI technology can be more widely utilised by the people, especially the youth, in line with Malaysia’s aspiration to develop an inclusive AI Nation by 2030, aligned with the Malaysia Digital 2030 aspirations,” it said.

The AI for the People programme was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today as one of six initiatives aimed at opening up more digital opportunities for Malaysian youths, in conjunction with the 2026 National Day Premier Address at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre here.

Rakyat Digital is the national digital learning portal, an initiative of the Digital Ministry spearheaded by MyDIGITAL Corporation.

Meanwhile, Digital Ministry secretary-general Datuk Fabian Bigar said the AI for the People programme was an important step towards ensuring youths not only understood AI technology but also had access to AI tools that could be used for learning, creativity and productivity.

“Through this initiative, we want to ensure the benefits of AI can be felt more widely and inclusively, in line with the government’s aspiration to build a literate society ready to face the digital future,” he said. — Bernama
