Strong winds, heavy rain damage Kuching International Airport roof (VIDEO)

KUCHING, Aug 25 — A section of the roof at the arrival area of Kuching International Airport (KIA) was damaged by strong winds and heavy rain today afternoon.

Airport personnel were at the scene to assess the situation, while personnel from the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) were conducting traffic control.

Similar weather conditions were reported in other parts of Kuching, including an uprooted tree at Jalan BDC.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), in an update issued at 3.55pm, forecast heavy rain and thunderstorms in most parts of Sarawak until 7pm.

The affected areas include Limbang, Miri (Marudi, Telang Usan, Bario and Beluru), Bintulu, Kapit (Kapit, Song and Bukit Mabong), Sarikei (Julau and Pakan), Sibu, Kuching (Kuching), Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman (Lingga, Pantu and Sri Aman), Betong (Pusa) and Mukah (Mukah). — The Borneo Post
