SERDANG, Aug 25 — A proposal for a forensic audit to be conducted into the management of the Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Felda) will be discussed by the Cabinet, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“We will bring it to the Cabinet meeting for discussion,” he told the media briefly after attending the National Maulidur Rasul Celebration at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) here today.

Anwar was responding to a question about Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s suggestion that a forensic audit be conducted to determine whether there had been abuse of power, breach of trust or governance violations in Felda’s management.

On Aug 23, Ahmad Zahid said a management audit alone was insufficient, given that issues involving the agency had persisted for a long time and resulted in losses amounting to billions of ringgit.

Previously, Anwar said he would await the full report by the special task force investigating Felda’s management issues before making any official announcement.

He said the task force had begun its work and its findings were expected to be presented soon before being made public, similar to the report by the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on Tabung Haji. — Bernama
