TEMERLOH. Aug 18 — The driver of a fuel tanker involved in a horrific crash that killed a mother and her 12‑year‑old son on Jalan Temerloh–Triang last Friday is expected to be charged in the Temerloh Magistrate’s Court this morning. 

According to Berita Harian, Temerloh district police chief Asst Comm Mohd Nasyim Bahron said the 37‑year‑old man will be produced in court following the expiry of his four‑day remand. Urine tests conducted on the suspect returned negative.

He will be charged under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving resulting in death — an offence that carries up to 10 years’ imprisonment, a RM50,000 fine, and disqualification from holding or obtaining a driving licence for five years upon conviction. 

The crash, which occurred around 4pm near Kampung Lebak, saw the tanker — carrying 32,000 litres of fuel — lose control, veer into the opposite lane and overturn onto the victims’ Perodua Bezza. The impact triggered a fire that engulfed both vehicles, leaving Nur Fatima Abdullah, 39, and her son Muhamad Fattah Aisy Nuafal Saifulnizam, 12, trapped and burnt to death. The tanker driver sustained minor injuries.
