Three towns choke on unhealthy API, Serian tops list as haze blankets Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 16 — Three areas, including two in Sarawak, recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 4pm today.

According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), the Serian district police headquarters recorded the highest API reading at 157, followed by Samarahan at 151.

In Selangor, Johan Setia also recorded an unhealthy API reading of 124.

Meanwhile, 65 other locations recorded moderate air quality levels.

The API scale is as follows: 0-50 (Good), 51-100 (Moderate), 101-200 (Unhealthy), 201-300 (Very Unhealthy) and above 300 (Hazardous).

API readings are released hourly, based on data from 68 air quality monitoring stations nationwide. — Bernama
