Toyota van driver dead, five passengers injured after collision with lorry on North-South highway near Kluang

KLUANG, Aug 14 — A woman was killed while five others were injured in an accident involving a van and a lorry at KM55.1 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) northbound early this morning.

Renggam Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) operations commander Shoromi Salih said five personnel and a Sitrak fire and rescue vehicle were dispatched to the scene, located 51 kilometres away, upon receiving a report. They arrived at 12.54 am.

“The driver of the Toyota van, a woman, was confirmed dead at the scene after becoming trapped in the driver’s section,” he said in a statement.

The five passengers in the van, including three children and a disabled man, were injured and removed from the vehicle by members of the public before the firefighters arrived.

He said the male driver of the Isuzu lorry was reported to be safe and uninjured. — Bernama
