JOHOR BAHRU, Aug 14 — Police are investigating a report that a Toyota Hilux followed a food trader’s 12-year-old son as he was walking home in Taman Megah Ria here on Tuesday.

Seri Alam police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Sohaimi Ishak today said police were actively investigating the alleged incident involving the primary school pupil, which was reported to have occurred at 4.45pm.

“In the report, the boy claimed to be followed by the Toyota Hilux in the Seri Alam area.

“At the same time, police were also despatched to the location of the incident shortly after the victim’s parent uploaded his son’s ordeal on Threads.

“The Seri Alam police is taking this incident seriously and is currently identifying witnesses and the motive for the incident,” he said in a statement today.

Mohd Sohaimi said police were also monitoring the Taman Megah Ria area to enhance safety and security following the report.

He advised the public to refrain from speculation and spreading unverified information related to the case.

Yesterday, a Threads user identified as @chompchomp_pasta posted about the incident, warning residents about a Toyota Hilux he claimed had followed his son in the Taman Megah Ria residential area.

He claimed his son was walking home with a friend when they were followed by unknown individuals in a black Toyota Hilux.

The boy managed to seek help from a woman trader before his father called his wife to pick him up.

A police report was later lodged.
