KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 — The Ministry of Health (MOH) will not compromise on unreasonable delays in over 1,300 health facility development projects nationwide, and is prepared to terminate the contracts of contractors who fail to show convincing physical progress on-site.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said in a Facebook post today that such action is necessary to ensure planned projects are completed according to requirements so that the public can enjoy the benefits promptly, while also preventing the waste of public funds.

He noted that this matter was among those highlighted while chairing MOH’s Development Action Council (MTPK) Meeting No. 2 of 2026 this morning, which was also attended by representatives from the Public Works Department (JKR) and Finance Ministry.

Dzulkefly said that the MOH is also collaborating with the JKR, state governments, and utility companies to resolve issues affecting project implementation at the grassroots level.

In a related development, he said 10 major health facilities have been completed as of August, including the Northern Region Blood Centre in Kedah, the additional block of Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital in Negeri Sembilan, and the Manjoi Klinik Kesihatan in Perak.

He also said that under the “Program Cakna Madani” initiative, 268 projects, or 37.75 per cent, have been completed, including improvements to the comfort of rural clinics, the expansion of haemodialysis centre capacities, and the replacement of obsolete equipment.
