KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 13 — Explaining a brief disruption to Kelana Jaya LRT services this morning, Rapid KL said a passenger believed to have fainted fell onto the tracks at Gombak station at about 9.05am.
The rail operator said the incident prompted the station’s Platform Intrusion Emergency Stop (PIES) system to be activated and power to the tracks to be temporarily cut.
“Immediately after the incident, the Platform Intrusion Emergency Stop (PIES) system was activated and power supply to the tracks was temporarily cut off as a safety measure to allow the operations team and auxiliary police to take immediate action,” it said in a statement.
Operations personnel and auxiliary police helped the passenger out of the track area and took them to the station’s emergency room while waiting for an ambulance.
Rapid KL said the passenger was subsequently taken to Tawakal Hospital Kuala Lumpur for further examination and treatment.
It said a subsequent inspection confirmed that the tracks were safe for use, with train operations resuming at 9.12am, about seven minutes after the incident.
